Biography
Sarah Frye grew up on her family's farm in south central Kansas, near Cheney. Her family has a certified seed wheat business, cow-calf operation, and diversified cropping rotation. She grew up driving tractors and combines, cleaning seed wheat, and feeding cattle. This led her to her passion for agriculture and ag advocacy.
While at Kansas State, she participated in the crops teams, weed science team, soils judging team, and forage bowl team. She also was a member of the Wheat State Agronomy Club, served as Ag Council Rep, and President for two years. Sarah received her B.S. in Agronomy in 2018 as well as earning her Certified Crop Advisor certification, where she then worked as a local consulting agronomist in SE Kansas and then as a commercial pesticide applicator and precision agronomist in central Kansas. She then came back to K-State to pursue her Ph.D. in Agronomy with Dr. Kraig Roozeboom. Her research is focused on integrating field peas into Central Great Plains cropping systems, looking at the impacts on subsequent crop yields, soil health, weed control, and overall rotation economics.
Sarah is the current Academic Coordinator for the department and helps undergraduate students through their academic careers. She serves as an advisor for the Wheat State Agronomy Club and assistant coach for the Crops Team. She also teaches the Agronomy Orientation course and coordinates the Internship in Agronomy course.
