I coordinate the crop performance trials for the state of Kansas, which means I can usually be found carrying around bags of seed, packaging seed, shipping seed, planting seeds, and waiting impatiently for that seed to grow to be data. I also provide management for the South Central Experiment Field in Hutchinson, Kansas.
I entered K-State as a plant biology major but was inspired to switch to Agronomy after hearing Dr. Steve Thien's account that "agronomists feed the world." After graduation, I briefly worked as a technician with the perennial crops program at the Land Institute in Salina before returning to K-State to help start up a corn quality laboratory in the Department of Grain Science. After years of trying unsuccessfully to convince Grain Science that seed is more important than grain, I had the opportunity to return to Agronomy as the CPT coordinator.
