Research

My research focuses on the ecology and sustainable management of rangelands. I am particularly interested in invasive weeds, which represent an increasing risk to these ecosystems. A major goal is to develop effective and diversified weed management programs to mitigate this risk. In many cases, advances in rangeland weed management can emerge from the integration of ecological knowledge with novel control methods.

More broadly, I am interested in strategies to maintain the biotic integrity, ecological function, and economic productivity of rangelands in the context of anthropogenic change, e.g., climate change or modified land use goals. These themes are inherently interdisciplinary and best explored in collaboration with others. As a new faculty member at Kansas State University, I look forward to working with colleagues within and beyond the Department of Agronomy and with land managers across the state.
